I'm sure there are people who don't swap mounts frequently because they don't keybind and the UI is pretty clunky for swapping on the fly. Not true, using updrafts to gain altitude would still be faster with gliding than with flying mounts. Much faster. OP's suggestion is that flying mounts gain endurance when passing through an updraft, not that flying mounts can use the updraft to gain altitude.
